The Hangout Music Festival is proud to announce the lineup for Shaka Island, an activity area and stage for the young and young at heart. Hangout Music Festival takes place May 20-22 in Gulf Shores, Alabama and is a premiere oceanfront music festival. Hangout is committed to being a family friendly festival that music lovers of all ages can enjoy. Kids under 10 are admitted free of charge with a ticketed adult.
Southern Living Magazine calls Hangout Music Festival the South’s “Best New Music Fest” and raves that it is “a head-bobbing beach-comber’s dream.”
Keller Williams, The Verve Pipe, The Baby Grands, Lunch Money, School of Rock, The Q Brothers, Peter DiStefano & Tor, and Jambo will be performing on the Shaka Island stage. The complete schedule is available on The Hangout Music Festival website (www.hangoutmusicfest.com).
Shaka Island has a full range of kids activities geared towards little ears, eyes and hands including a hip hop workshop, an instrument petting zoo, a station for rock star hairdos and tattoos, a drum zone hosted by Jon Yost, arts and crafts, dance competitions, sandcastle building and a ‘paint party’ where kids can discover their inner Picasso. Another feature is the Explorium of Sound where young minds can explore the mechanics of frequency, resonance, amplitude and refraction with a PVC pipe organ, a giant bubble pool, an oscilloscope and more.
Thousands of condominiums within walking distance add to the exceptional experience shared by music enthusiasts and beach lovers heading to Hangout. Besides comfortable accommodations, the weekend is capped with a blockbuster lineup of bands performing on stages located directly on the beach. The 2011 Hangout lineup features performances from Paul Simon, The Foo Fighters, Widespread Panic, The Black Keys, My Morning Jacket, The Flaming Lips, Cee Lo Green plus many more.
