LeapFrog -Tag, You’re It ! (Closed)

As many of my reader know I am a HUGE fan of the LeapFrog Tag and their efforts to help children read. My preschooler owns the Tag reader, which he enjoys, just a few days ago I purchased the Learn to Read Book Set 1 & 2 to help him on his path to reading. He also has the NEW Tag US Map, which we have spent hours having fun (learning) with while being explores.

I recently posted about LeapFrogs Tag. Give. Read. campaign. (HERE). Their Tag. Give. Read. campaign has been hugely successful. So successful that Tinsel Town is on board! “Access Hollywood” personality Jayneoni Moore is launching a parallel program through The Jayneoni Moore Children’s Fund, called “Tag, You’re It!” and we’re joining forces to go bigger and put Tag and books into the hands of even more kids.

Jayneoni and her celeb mom pals have been buying Tag Readers to give away to classrooms in need, and their campaign will encourage others to do the same. To sweeten the deal, LeapFrog is giving 5 Tag books for each system donated to the cause. And on November 14th, all these moms and their little ones will gather at a “packing party,” to turn what we hope will be a massive pile of donated product into individually boxed “Tag kits” for classrooms.
How you can help:
Donations can be dropped off or shipped to 269 South Beverly Drive, Beverly Hills, Ca 90212 by Thursday, November 11th 2010. All items will be
packaged and shipped to the special selected kindergarten classrooms on Sunday, November 14th, during a special packing event attended by celebrity moms and hosted by Marissa Jaret Winokur cohost of the talk show The Talk!

Here is the great news, LeapFrog is giving away a Tag Reader and the new USA Map to one of our readers....AND that is not all!! The winner of this giveaway will also be entered for the chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip to Hollywood to meet Jayneoni and her celeb mom pals at the “packing party" on November 14th.

I remember my mom reading to me each night before bed - and I try to do the same with my 5 year old son! Now I have a new baby due in a week and I'm on unpaid maternity leave through Christmas. I would LOVE to win this for a Christmas present - it would definitely help financially. I'm a school library media specialist, so I can't think of a better gift!! :)

My sister and I used to play a silly game with our hardcover children's books. My sister would sit in the big brown recliner and read each book. I would lay on pillows behind the recliner and as she would finish a book, she would drop it back to me to read. As I finished each book, I would stand it on the floor like a house of cards and slowly build a house of books around myself. We were goofy kids! Thank you for the chance to win.

I remember when I was very little my Great Aunt would take me to the library. It was such a magical place for me. I loved picking out books and taking them home to read.

We used to go to the library after the cleaning was done and then on a picnic - in bad weather the picnic was in the living room and we spent the afternoon enjoying our books and each other.

I used to go to the public library and walk home with more books than I could comfortably carry, and I'd sit down and read them one right after the other. I just devoured them. I still would do that if I had the time.

One of my favorite books was "There are Rocks in My Socks." I remember requesting my mom reading it often to me and then later on I could read it to myself. Fun books like that make reading fun and enjoyable.

I don't remember ever NOT reading. I know my mother read to us, and I started on my own at a very young age. Probably the childhood memory that sticks out in my mind the most was the satisfaction I got when my mother OK'd me to go into the adult section of the library to get books, when I was 10. She most likely wouldn't have done it now, because of the content of so many books being so heavily sexual, but this was in 1948, and anything touching on such things probably was way over my head--I just wanted the story!

I remember being asked to read in front of the class because I did it so well throughout my childhood. I can't say I enjoyed it much because it made me nervous LOL.
